What is LiD?

LiD stands for Life is Dance.

This website was created to help people learn more about hip hop/locking/waacking/breaking/krumping dance in Japan. For those who dance these styles, the culture soon becomes everything. Dance becomes life.

And this is the reason many people from around the world come to Japan to dance. To immerse themselves in a world that many people think is underground but is growing rapidly.

For many foreign dancers, being in Japan can be isolating. Different training styles, customs and cultures can make you feel like you're an outsider or even worse, you weren't supposed to be a dancer.

Have you ever taken a new lesson and the teacher’s dance style seems totally different from what you are used to? Or you’ve joined a training session and it’s difficult to vibe with the other people there? Maybe you have participated in a dance show and the whole process left you wishing you never took part in the first place?

This is another reason why LiD was created. To unite and connect dancers, no matter the background of each individual person. We want to help people with sharing their experiences so that no one feels alone.

Finding the right lesson/teacher/studio/training session may take time but hopefully with this network we can help you along the way.
